REGISTRATION?

To place an ad or respond to an ad via the CONTACT SELLER link, you must be Registered for a free account. Registration is quick, easy, totally safe and secure.

We do have a moral obligation by having to monitor under age users. This is just a precaution in the event of minors trying to access categories such as X – Rated Adult Material. A parent or guardian must mail or fax a signed permission form to the administrator of HomeBroe before anyone under the age of 13 can complete the registration. For further information, contact admin@homebroe.net. Alternatively click on the Over 13 years of age link to start registering.

Terms of Use: Please read and agree to our terms of use and you’re almost home. Scroll down to the end of the page and click on Agree.

Name: Please type in your real name.

User Name: Choose an alias (nickname) that will be seen by other users throughout the site.

Password: Choose any Alfa Numeric combination. Log out when using a public PC for optimum security.

Enter Password Again: This is to verify your chosen password.

Email: Must be valid so that you can complete the registration.

Time Zone Offset: Type in +2 for the South African time zone.

The only personal information we ask from you during registration is your Name and Email address. We don't spam our members, sell or lease our membership list.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

All Ads are absolutely Free with no cost, this also includes Pictures and all current services offered on HomeBroe Classifieds…

We do however reserve the right to change this at any time since this service costs us to run, improve, administer and maintain on a regular bases.

HOW DO I RESPOND TO AN AD?

Anyone can view an ad, but you must be registered to respond to an ad where a phone number or email address is not written in the ad.

Why do we do this? Our system protects all buyers and seller’s privacy from ending up on a spam list by using our system as a middleman to pass messages through. Click on the REGISTER button to sign-up for an account. We advise all sellers to include their phone numbers in ads should a potential buyer not be able to or wish to sign up for an account.

HOW DO I PLACE OR EDIT AN AD?

Since our classifieds are a free service, we do not take classifieds sent to us via email or over the phone. Don't despair! Placing a classified ad directly online is easy as 1-2-3! Plus, you can easily CANCEL, MODIFY and RENEW past ads!

Here are the instructions:

STEP 1: Sign-up for a classifieds account.
Visit
HomeBroe Classifieds and click on the REGISTER link. After you complete the easy registration screens, we will immediately send you an email with a link that you must click on to activate your account.

STEP 2: Login and
Place your free ad.
Visit
HomeBroe Classifieds and click on the "login" link. Next, click PLACE AN AD. Don't forget to provide your phone number in the ad description if you wish buyers to contact you directly.

To edit an ad: Click MY ADS on far left of the top menu, then click the ad you want to edit. Click on Product Options, located on the far right of the item menu. Finally click EDIT AD, this is the icon located directly under the admin options.

STEP 3: We might review your new/revised ad and within 24 hours or shorter, it will show on the site.

The seller and buyer assume all risks inherent in a transaction (
see Terms of use). If you have had difficulty with a buyer or seller, your recourse is to leave feedback on that person on our system and seek redress through the courts.

WHERE IS MY AD?

We typically receive this question from users who have just submitted their first ad, expecting it to show up instantly on the site. All new ads or modified ads might be approved by the HomeBroe Classifieds Editor before it shows on the website. Chances are the ad has not yet been approved. Let us review your ad and within 24 hours or shorter it will be put on the site.

If you still can't find your ad, are you looking for it in the right category? Be sure that your ad, via the MY ADS link, is in the right category you would like it to appear. Or contact the
Administrator

HOW DOES AUCTION BIDDING WORK?

Our system allows bidding on items. This is a fully legal transaction between Buyers and Sellers. The seller inputs the MINIMUM amount they will accept for the item. Bidders then input a MAXIMUM amount they will pay for an item. The site will then automatically bid you up from the lowest price until the maximum bid amount you entered. That saves the bidder from continually coming back to the site. If you are outbid, you will receive an email notification at the email address you used when you signed up.

Depending on the item's initial price, the automatic bid amount goes up anywhere from R0.25 to R25 using the following formula.

1. If the current price is less than R10, the additional bid increments will be R0.25
2. If the current price is R10 or more but less than R50, the additional bid increments will be R1.00
3. If the current price is R50 or more but less than R100, the additional bid increments will be R5.00
4. If the current price is R100 or more but less than R500, the additional bid increments will be R10.00
5. If the current price is greater than R500, the additional bid increments will be R25.00

Sellers may not cancel or change the price of an ad mid-auction. Buyers and sellers must honor the outcome of an auction. At HomeBroe’s discretion, buyers or sellers who do not honor a bid or final price on an auction will have their HomeBroe accounts permanently suspended. You may then attempt to resolve the dispute or sought legal action.

BUY IT NOW VIA PAYPAL?

On most item categories you can have buyers BUY IT NOW via an already established PayPal account. For this function to work, your email address on file with us must match your email address on file with PayPal. You can now sign up and link your PayPal account via your FNB (First National Bank account).

INAPPROPRIATE MATERIAL?

HomeBroe reserves the right, without notice, to edit, categorize, revise, and move or to decline any classified advertisement for any reason. As it is our intent to uphold the highest standards of accuracy, moral, clarity and legality.

AD CANCELLATIONS?

You can cancel your ad at any time by signing into the interface, clicking MY ADS, and then clicking on CANCEL or delete.

AD RENEWALS?

Three days before your ad is set to expire, you will get an email warning you of the expiration and a link to renew the ad. BEFORE you click on the link in the email, open your browser and login to your classifieds account.

If you missed renewing your ad, you can always RELIST it. Login to classifieds and click MY ADS. Next, click the ad you want to relist. Then click RELIST it. The ad will be relisted for the original period of time the original ad was. You can also change the RELISTING default time period when you edit an ad. A new relisting time period takes effect the next time an ad is renewed.

RELISTED ads will again show up at the top of each category and work their way down as other ads come in.

FORGOT YOUR USERNAME OR PASSWORD?

If you forgot your password, you can click forgot password on the login screen to get these re-sent to you.

CAN'T LOGIN?

If it appears that you have logged in, but you keep getting sent back to the "unlogged in" classifieds page, there is a strong possibility that your browser has been set not to accept cookies. Our classifieds system needs cookies turned on in order to work. (Don't worry, we don't track personal information or sell data used by cookies.) To turn cookies back on in Internet Explorer, click TOOLS, then INTERNET OPTIONS. Click the PRIVACY tab. Move the slider to the MEDIUM HIGH or lower position.

If that doesn't work, pleased click the DELETE MY COOKIES link on the login page.

DATABASE ERROR?

You will receive a database error when you place an ad if you took more than 30 minutes from when you first logged in until when you hit submit to place your ad. Please try again keeping in mind this time restriction. Or you can send the error report to Admin for assistance.

DON'T SEE ANY ADS?

Our site uses cookies to track which edition of classifieds you are using. If your browser's security settings are set to block cookies, you won't see any ads as our system won't know what edition to show you. To allow cookies in HomeBroe classifieds, in Internet Explorer do the following:

1. Click TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS. Select the SECURITY tab. click the DEFAULT LEVEL button.
2. Next click the PRIVACY tab, click the DEFAULT button and then click OK.

INACTIVE ACCOUNT?

In order to use HomeBroe Classifieds you must verify your email address with us when you register. After your registration, you should receive an email from us within minutes. The email will have a link that you must click on to activate your account. If you didn't receive this email, let us know in your email and we will manually activate your account. Our email address is admin@homebroe.net

Should you be using a webmail email address service like Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail, we strongly advise you to add "@homebroe.net" to your service's spam filter white list. Otherwise, email from potential buyers could be blocked. Users of ISP accounts or corporate accounts like shaw.ca and telus.net should not be affected by this.

PICTURE UPLOAD TROUBLES?

You may upload up to five or more images with your ad. Any one individual picture can't be larger than 2 megabytes in size. Photos must be in a JPG, GIF, or PNG format. No other photo file type will work at this time.

The file size limitation is in place to save you from having to wait an inordinate amount of time in uploading your ad. To take smaller sized photos, reduce the megapixel setting on your digital camera and shoot again. You can also edit this with any well known picture editors.

If you have repeated trouble with a photo, try renaming the picture's filename before uploading. Also, try uploading one picture at a time in the modify ad screen.

CHANGE EMAIL ADDRESS, OR PASSWORD?

To change your email address or password, login to classifieds and click PROFILE to change these settings. You'll see a link at the top called Click here to change your password or email address on file.

AVOIDING SCAMS?

We strongly advise sellers NOT to deal with international based buyers or buyers who wish to pay via Western Union or some other unusual method (Insist on PayPal). Under no circumstances should you allow buyers to overpay your asking amount and then reimburse them the difference. First check with your bank to make sure that the funds cleared in your account. Always try to meet with the seller face to face to conclude a transaction safely. Only hand the goods purchased and paid for to the actual registered buyer, unless you both agreed on an alternate arrangement. We do encourage postal orders, should the buyer preferred this method. Sellers must ship the item/s fairly and timorously and buyers must please post feedback of the experience with the seller once the transaction is concluded.

If you believe someone has sent you a questionable scam email, please email us the details. We'll let you know if it is suspicious and disable the sender's account.
